Obituary of Allen Sather

Age 89, of Plainfield, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center.  He was born in Chicago, the son of the late Sigurd and Catherine (Madden) Sather and resided in Plainfield for 56 years.  Allen was a United States Air Force Veteran, honorably discharged following four years of serving proudly.   He retired from Argonne National Laboratory following 35 years of service.  Allen was the former Plainfield Township Tax Assessor.  He loved playing golf, was involved in youth baseball and refereed football when his children were young.

Allen is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marilyn (Kalfas) Sather of Plainfield; 4 children, Michael (Carol) Sather, Julie (Allen) Trumbo, Patricia (Christopher) Hartell and Susan (Roger) Sorg; 4 grandsons, Bryan (Audrey) Sather, Brett (Kathleen) Sather, Bradley (Stephanie) Sather and Ryan (Mandie) Sorg; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Raymond, Warren and Norbert Sather.

All family and friends are invited to meet on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Avenue, Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m.  Facemasks are required and social distancing will be observed. Private interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Wounded Warriors Project, Plainfield Lions Club or American Legion would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Fred C.
