Obituary of Santo Louis Tatone
Santo Louis Tatone, age 86, of Countryside, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 4, 2021, at the home of his daughter in Shorewood, with his loving family by his side.
Born April 29, 1934 in Chicago, to Vito Nicola and Phyllis (Falcone) Tatone, he was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He attended Michigan State University and received his Bachelor’s degree from Illinois Benedictine University. He retired from National Food Store where he served as a District Manager for many years.
Santo was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a proud patriot and a devoted member of his parish, St. Cletus Catholic Church. He and Deona loved visiting Las Vegas, which included playing in poker tournaments, slot machine tournaments and dining out at seafood buffets.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ingrid Tatone; his life companion, Deona Maliska; his parents, Vito Nicola and Phyllis (Falcone) Tatone; and three sisters, Marie Avery, Angeline Krieger and Geraldine Francesconi.
Surviving are his children, Nick Tatone, Terry Tatone, Laurie Corrado, Donna (Michael) Koga, Stana (Michael) LaBine, Kenneth (Sandy) Maliska, and Michael (Stacy) Maliska; six grandchildren, Robert, Nicole, Louis, Joseph, Katie and Jason; two great-grandchildren Jaxon and Joe Joe; three sisters, Joanie (Joe) Fiorenzo, Anita Tatone, and Diane Ceddia; numerous nieces and nephews; and their beloved canine, Cleo and canine buddy Kruger (Ruger).
Visitation for Santo Tatone will be held Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet. Face masks and social distancing will be required. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Evergreen Park, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Army.
