Georgina Sue Fischer, passed away at the age of 76, on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at her home in Joliet.  Georgina was born on May 6, 1944, the daughter of the late James Henry and JoeAnne (nee Whitman) Joiner.  She was raised in Vaughn and Clovis, NM with her younger brother Harold.

Georgina was a graduate of Clover High School and received her Medical Laboratory Technician Degree from Elkhart University of Medical and Dental Technique in 1963.  She was a medical technician in the OBGYN department of Silver Cross Hospital for more than 10 years.  After leaving Silver Cross, Georgina worked at and later owned and operated the Golden Needle in Joliet for more than 20 years.  Her tailoring skills built a large clientele of city residents with projects for high school graduations, bands, brides and bridesmaid dresses and masks for friends and the community during the COVID pandemic.  Georgina enjoyed continuing her friendships with neighborhood friends and coworkers from the Golden Needle in her retirement. She was also a member of Grace Bible Church.

Georgina is survived by her two sons, Lance (Kathryn) Kirsch of Mt. Prospect, IL and Noel (Michelle) Kirsch of Wayne, PA; her three grandchildren, Bobby James Kirsch, Emma Grace Kirsch, and Ewan Winston Kirsch; her younger brother, James Harold Kirsch; and the father of her sons, Larry Kirsch.

She is preceded by her parents and her second husband, Henry Fischer.
