Obituary of Francis John Nemanich Jr.
Age 85 of Plainfield, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Lightways Hospice Home. He was born in Joliet, the son of the late Francis Sr. and Christine (Vranicar) Nemanich, and was a lifelong area resident. Nemey was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Electro-motive of LaGrange following 27 years of service. He was a member of the Minus 300 club, an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Nemey was a devout catholic and was heavily involved with St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his four children, Anne C. Nemanich, Michael F. Nemanich, Karen M. (Jeffrey) Huston and Leah C. Nemanich; two grandchildren, Ryan T. Softcheck and Kaitlyn F. Huston; his sister, Bernice Nemanich; his canine companion, Buddy; and several nieces and nephews.
Nemey is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Donna Anne (Puetz) Nemanich (2018); his parents; sister, Frances Sefcik; and his brother, Robert Nemanich.
Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago Street, Joliet, on Saturday, May 15, 2021 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Lightways Hospice or Masses would be appreciated.
