Lois Schaller

Obituary of Lois J. Schaller

Lois J. Schaller (nee Muir) of New Port Richey, FL died on May 15, 2021 at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving husband and family.

Formerly a longtime resident of Plainfield, IL, she graduated from Providence High School, Joliet, IL in 1950.  For many years she was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Church in Plainfield, and an active member of the church choir and the Mother’s Club at St Mary Immaculate School.

Lois was an incredible cook and baker.  She was a professional cake decorator for several decades out of her home in Plainfield.  She was also an accomplished organ player and hosted the Muir family reunion in the 1980’s, and many holiday gatherings with her siblings and their spouses.   She enjoyed countless years of summer vacations in Florida with her husband and children.  She also enjoyed many fall trips to Wyoming to visit her brother and his wife.  During her winter seasons in Florida as a “snowbird” (before becoming a permanent Florida resident in 2014) she enjoyed having frequent visits from her children and grandchildren and had many wonderful times visiting flea markets and all the classic tourist sites of the state.

She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Mary “Mary Beth” Kemp; and her parents, Robert and Elizabeth (Helmers) Muir.  Lois was the last surviving sibling out of ten children in the Muir family.

Lois is survived by Ronald, her loving and devoted husband of 69 years.  She is also survived by her children, Gregory (Rosemary), Kevin (Kevin), Suzanne, Jeannine Marco (Richard), Paul (Laura), and seven grandsons.

A special appreciation and debt of gratitude goes out to Paul and Laura for graciously accepting Mom into their home, and especially Laura who lovingly provided Mom comfort and care these last five months.
