Obituary of Robert D. Hubert

Robert D. Hubert, age 67, of Joliet, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center.

Born July 5, 1953 in Joliet, he was the son of Henry “Hank” and Amelia “Molly” (Podnar) Hubert, and was a graduate of Lockport Township High School, Class of 1971.

Bob worked in numerous customer service capacities for Tri-Star Cabinet and Top Company in New Lenox, beginning at age 16, and continuing until his retirement in September of 2019.

A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was a selfless and kind person.  He loved all sports and was a huge fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his jokes, as well as his enjoyment of a comfortable recliner, and shopping on Amazon Prime.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Cheryl A. (Sebben) Hubert of Joliet; his loving daughter, Haley (Ryan) Dolan of Shorewood; his sweet grandson, Colin Ryan Dolan; and a dear sister, Rosemary (Robert) Stromberg.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and last but not least, his faithful dogs, Gizmo and Rico.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three step-brothers, Leroy Thomas, Jim Thomas and William “Bill” Thomas.

Visitation for Robert Hubert will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet.  Face masks will be required and social distancing will be practiced.  Due to limitations on the number of persons in attendance, funeral services and interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park will be private.
