Obituary of Maria Catalina Haymer

Maria Catalina Haymer is the beloved mother of Erika (Thomas) Rangel, Michelle Marroquin, and Jacqueline (Wilfredo) Alvarado; loving and devoted grandmother of Laila Marroquin, Melina Alvarado, and Kai Rangel. She was born January 29, 1963, in Chicago, IL where she was raised in the Pilsen neighborhood.  Maria graduated from Whitney Young High School. She was called home at 58 years young on Thursday, May 20, 2021.

Maria was employed as a senior customer service specialist for almost 18 years. She was a woman of great faith with a beautiful infectious smile whose sense of humor could bring light to anything. She enjoyed dancing, singing, making crafts, scrapbooking, and interacting with the many friends and family she had. Maria was very quick-witted with a tremendously kind heart, a giving nature, and always made a lasting impression on anyone’s path she crossed. But nothing brought more joy to her heart than being with her grandbabies.

She was preceded in death by her mother Luz Maria Rodriguez. She is survived by her daughters; grandchildren; her father, Neftali Rodriguez; siblings, Elsie (Luther) Sease, Vilma (George) Rodriguez, Neftali (Jean) Rodriguez, Jr, Luz (Robert) Torres, Richard (Lourdes) Rodriguez, Sonia Estrella, and Jeannette Rodriguez. One aunt, Carmen Alvarez, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

Visitation for Maria will be held at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd.
