Marilyn Ruth Hopkins
Age 89, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 30, 2021 at her home. She was born September 16, 1931 in Aurora, IL to the late Leonard and Ramona Meyer.
She met her husband, Donald “Hop” Hopkins, at the Brookfield Zoo in the Monkey House! They were married for 60 years until his death in 2011. Loving mother of Diane Loucks, and David (Patty) Hopkins; dear grandmother of Lauren, Amy, Collin and Callie Hopkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Lois Cooper.
Marilyn graduated from Aurora East High School and attended North Central College. She was a bank secretary for a few years until she became a full-time homemaker, wife, and mother. She was a voracious reader. She enjoyed crafting and participating in craft shows with her sister.
As it was Marilyn’s wish, Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 26 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 1718 Avalon Avenue (at Larkin Ave.) Joliet.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Lightways Hospice (formerly Joliet Area Community Hospice).
