Obituary of Herbert John Hain
Herbert John Hain
Age 86, a longtime Morris, IL resident passed from this life Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at O.S.F. St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL. with his beloved wife of 51 years, Joyce at his side.
He was born November 4, 1934, in Chicago, IL to the late Caroline (Layer) and John "Percy" Hain, Herb was raised in Maywood, IL.
A. U.S. Army Veteran, he was honorably discharged in 1959. Herb was employed for many years as a diesel mechanic until he retired in 2000 and after retirement, he volunteered as a driver for the Morris Hospital's transportation vehicles, taking people to and from their appointments.
Some of his hobbies included bicycling, wood carving, horticulture, photography, gardening, and archery. An avid reader, his thirst for knowledge and his cognitive mind allowed him to fix most anything. He also possessed a dry wit and would often show his "affection" with his colorful remarks.
As it was Herb's request, cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Gathering to celebrate his life will be Saturday, June 19, 2021, from 1-5 p.m. at the American Legion, 212 W. Washington Street, in Morris.
