Cody J. Tietz
Age 24, of Plainfield, IL passed from this life Sunday evening June 6, 2021 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL.
Cody was born April 6, 1997 in Joliet, IL to Kathy (nee Vaught) and James “Jim” Tietz. Despite his many challenges, he was very expressive, especially in the unique way he could radiate the vibe of love and warmth while in his presence.
In addition to his devoted parents, Code-Man is also survived by his loving sister, Kristin (Matt) Cetta; cherished niece, Carsyn; and beloved grandmother, Caryl Tietz. Cody will also be lovingly remembered by his aunt and Godmother, Sue (Tom) Flynn; Godfather, Mike Scarpino; aunts and uncles, Tom (Angela) Tietz, Don (Pam) Tietz, Sue (Mike) Zoppa, and Buddy (Denise) Vaught. He will also be missed by many cousins.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, Miller and Beverly Vaught and Adolph “Red” Tietz as well as his aunt Nan and uncle Jack Petty.
The Tietz family will be forever grateful for the kindness of many including his amazing caregivers throughout the years, Janet, Beth, Bre, Brenda, Denna and Kay Lynn; the staff and pharmacists at the Jewel-Osco on Caton Farm and Rt 59 for relentlessly pursuing and coming through in providing timely prescriptions always; Dr. Rita Tamulis Shea, Dr. Thomas Moore, Dr. Peter Heydemann, Dr. Mary Keen and Dr. Randolph McConnie for the steady guidance, support and a shoulder to lean on. Cody also had the opportunity to earn his High School Diploma from Plainfield North with the help of his teachers, Beth Ciszek and Candace Coppes.
Cody’s memory will be forever in our hearts and his legacy will live on in others, as he was a candidate for the Gift of Hope. The donations made by Cody will enable others to take their first steps and to see for the first time.
Visitation for Cody will be Friday, June 11, 2021 from 9 a.m until 1 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. A service of remembrance will immediately follow the visitation at 1 p.m. Cody’s eulogy will be given by his Uncle Buddy. A special song to honor Cody’s life will be performed by family friend Patrick Mulvey. Cremation rites will be accorded following services and Cody’s final earthly remains will be interred at a later date.
