Obituary of Kathleen Huritz
Kathleen Huritz (nee Lotito), 78, of Shorewood, IL, died June 16, 2021. Kathleen was the wife of Ronald, mother of James (Lisa) DiSilvio of Bloomingdale, IL, and Patricia (Michael) Cepl, of Joliet, IL, and grandmother of Michael Cepl, Jr. and Samantha (Edon) Shaqiri of Chicago.
Kathleen earned a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology in 1994 from Cornerstone University in Pasadena, TX, and a Master of Science in Clinical Pastoral Counseling in 1993 from Evangelical Theological Seminary in Missouri. She was a devout Christian who made several appearances on faith-based television programs during the 1990s, and held other licenses as a temperament therapist and ordained minister of pastoral counseling conferred by the National Christian Counselors Association. She founded the Victory Family Care Counseling Center of North Georgia in 1995. Prior to entering ministry work, Kathleen was employed in the banking industry in Illinois and Florida.
Kathleen was an avid Italian cook and baker, and in 1988 established her own bakery named the “Sweet Suite” while she and her husband resided in Ocala, Florida.
In recent years, Kathleen served as an intercessory prayer minister on behalf of a Virginia-based church, where she also volunteered in the food distribution pantry while living in that state.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, two adult children, and numerous cousins.
As it was her request, private services were held by the family with inurnment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet, IL.
