Obituary of Sharon Rae Blessent

Sharon Rae Blessent
(nee Ekkert)

Sharon Rae Blessent, passed away peacefully at the age of 76, on Sunday, July 4, 2021, at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home.  She was born in Joliet, on April 17, 1945, the daughter of the late Raymond and Velma (nee Mackender) Ekkert.   Sharon had several careers throughout her life including retail management.   She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and craft shows.  Her greatest love of all, beyond measure, was her husband Eugene "Gene".  She was her happiest spending time with him, no matter what they were doing.

Sharon is survived by her step-children, Paul (Robin) Blessent, Dave Blessent, and Stephen (Mary) Blessent; and 12 grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene “Gene” Blessent; her parents; and her grandparents.

Visitation for Sharon Blessent will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL with Funeral Services to follow at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave, Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.  Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
