Obituary of Francis S. Fazio, Jr.

Francis S. “Frank” Fazio, Jr. age 69, of Crest Hill, passed away unexpectedly June 30, 2021 at home.

Born September 13, 1951 in Joliet, he was the son of Frank and Evelyn (Rothlisberger) Fazio.  His parents and his sister, Lynn Ellis, preceded him in death.

Frank attended St. Agnes Grade School in Chicago Heights and was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School.  He continued his education at Joliet Junior College and Lewis University and worked as an engineer in the telecommunications industry.  Following the early loss of his father, Frank remained at home to care for his mother until her passing 34 years later.

Frank was an avid fan of Chicago sports teams, particularly both the White Sox and Cubs.  A lifelong pet owner, Frank was known for his kindness to animals and regularly went out of his way to provide care for both his pets and for those who called upon him with animals in need. 

Frank will be remembered for his kindness, his incredibly gentle and generous nature, and his quirky, dry sense of humor.  As his only nephew married another only child, “Uncle Frank” was a title he held and a duty he happily fulfilled for more than 40 years.  Visits from Uncle Frank always brought a heightened energy into the house, some groan-inducing puns, and an excess of food and desserts.

Frank is survived by his nephew and his wife, William “Bill” and Elane Sims of Elgin, and their children, Julian, Jonathan, Matthew, Natalie, and Nolan.

Private graveside services were held; he is at rest with his parents.
