Leslie Pelkie

(nee Rzepka)

Age 78, of Joliet, IL passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

She was born May 28, 1943, in Chicago, IL to the late Ethel (nee Zdanowski) and Adam Rzepka.  Leslie was raised in Chicago and had lived in Joliet for many years, however her most favorite location to spend time was in Indiana.  Anytime she could get away, she would like to relax and unwind in her “home away from home.”

She is survived by her son, Charles (Donna) Pelkie Jr; daughter, Sherry (Dennis) Petersen; grandchildren, Rachel Pelkie; Maya (Gabriel) Saenz and Mark Petersen; one brother, James Rzepka; two sisters, Cindy Drew and Sheryl Duan. Many nieces and nephews and their families also survive.

Preceded in death by her son, Mark Pelkie; brother, Wayne (late Martha) Rzepka; a sister-in-law, Eunice Rzepka; a brother-in-law, Donald Drew, and her parents.

In her free time, Leslie loved playing bingo and when she was able, visiting the casino from time to time. She will also be remembered for her love of frogs!

As it was Leslie’s wish, to further medical research, her remains have been transferred to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois.

Please join her family in celebrating her life on Sunday, August 22, 2021, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the clubhouse of Lake Hinsdale Village in Willowbrook, IL.

In lieu of flowers memorials in her name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
