Obituary of Sonia Mora
Sonia Mora, age 91, of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 5, 2021, at her home. She was born September 3, 1929, in Leon, Nicaragua to the late Hermenegildo and Isolina Salinas.
Sonia grew up in Leon, Nicaragua and emigrated with her family to the United States in 1978. She lived in San Francisco, CA until relocating to Illinois in 2006.
She loved to craft and was very talented with jewelry making, quilting, knitting, and sewing. She will also be remembered for her baking skills. She will be remembered as Mimis to her grandchildren who she adored.
Survived by her loving husband of almost 58 years, Ivan Mora; her dear children, Ivan J. (Lance C. Reiners) Mora, Jorge (Lupita) Mora, and Isolda M. (Ramon) Teodoro; her adoring grandchildren, Margarita, Carmen, Teresa, and Juan Pablo Mora, Adrianna, Daniel, and Cristian Teodoro; several nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Estela Sampson and Lilian Valdivia; brother, Carlos Salinas.
Visitation for Sonia will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL with Funeral Services held Friday, July 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 S. Rt. 59, Plainfield, IL where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield, IL

Sonia Mora, de 91 años, de Joliet, IL, falleció pacíficamente el lunes 5 de julio de 2021 en su casa. Nació el 3 de septiembre de 1929 en León, Nicaragua, hija del fallecido Hermenegildo e Isolina Salinas.
Sonia creció en León, Nicaragua y emigró con su familia a los Estados Unidos en 1978. Vivió en San Francisco, CA hasta que se mudó a Illinois en 2006.
Le encantaba la artesanía y tenía mucho talento para hacer joyas, tejer, tejer y coser. También será recordada por sus habilidades para hornear. Ella será recordada como Mimis por sus nietos a quienes adoraba.
Le sobreviven su amado esposo durante casi 58 años, Iván Mora; sus queridos hijos, Iván J. (Lance C. Reiners) Mora, Jorge (Lupita) Mora e Isolda M. (Ramón) Teodoro; sus adorados nietos, Margarita, Carmen, Teresa y Juan Pablo Mora, Adrianna, Daniel y Cristian Teodoro; también sobreviven varias sobrinas, sobrinos y amigos.
La precedieron en la muerte sus padres; sus hermanas, Estela Sampson y Lilian Valdivia; y su hermano, Carlos Salinas.
El velorio para Sonia se llevará a cabo el jueves 8 de julio de 2021, a partir de las 4:00 p.m. a las 8:00 p.m., en la funeraria Fred C. Dames, 3200 Black Rd. (en Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL con los servicios funerarios el viernes 9 de julio de 2021 a las 10:00 a.m. desde la funeraria hasta la parroquia St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 S. Rt. 59, Plainfield, IL, donde se celebrará una Misa de Entierro Cristiano a las 11:00 a.m. El entierro será en el cementerio St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield, IL
