(nee Giermala)

Age 76 of Joliet, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at her late residence.  Victoria was born in Joliet, the daughter of the late Henry and Angela (Paluzzi) Giermala, she was a lifelong resident.  Victoria graduated from Joliet Township High School with the class of 1962.  She retired from the Will County Court House as a clerk and was formerly employed by the Illinois Insurance Exchange for 10 years.  Victoria was a member of the American Italian Cultural Society and a former member and Queen of the Red Hats Society.  She loved her family and friends, had a great sense of humor, loved to crochet, loved to read and was an amazing seamstress.

Victoria is survived by her four children, Gregory E. (Laura) Gear of TX, Victoria M. Gear of MI, David J. (Stephanie) Gear of Schaumburg and Jonathon (Beth) Gear of Elgin; grandchildren,  Matthew Gear, Angelina Gear, Ashley Gear, Alexandrea (Jake) Everett, Christopher Rossi, Mikayla Gear, Savannah Rossi, Cole Gear, Sydney Gear, Emily Gear and Logan Gear; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Judith (late Ray) Petersen of Minooka; her brother, Mark (Rebecca) Giermala of Indiana; long time companion, Filippo Liburdi; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband, Nicola Recchia (2001) and her parents.

The family of Victoria M. Recchia will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Church of St. Anthony, 100 N. Scott St., Joliet from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Private family inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Fr. Flanery's Boys Town would be appreciated.
