Obituary of Constance A. Scheuber
Constance A. “Connie” Scheuber, age 78, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Lightways Hospice Home, with her devoted family by her side.
Connie was born March 30, 1943 in Wenona, IL to Joseph and Mae (McGrath) Hardy. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Wenona High School. She then moved to Joliet to attend the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing.
It was here in Joliet where Connie met her beloved husband of 42 years, James R. Scheuber, raised her family, and worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years at St. Joseph Medical Center. She also enjoyed serving as a volunteer for the Will County Humane Society and Crisis Line of Joliet.
Connie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. Fiercely independent, she will be remembered for her positive attitude, her supportive and giving personality, and her ability to laugh at herself and find humor in most every situation.
Surviving are her loving children, Mark (Susie) Scheuber of Joliet, Suzanne (Brian) Ciapinski of Frankfort, IL and Beth Marie (Luke) Olszta of Lockport; five adoring grandchildren, Katie and Maddie Scheuber, Jillian Ciapinski, and Presley and Cameron Olszta; her sister, Sara Lyons of Pontiac; three sisters-in-law, Mary Hardy, Mary Lynn (Mark) Odenthal, and Cindy Scheuber; and niece and nephews, Kathy (Mike) Russow, Tim (Cindy) Lyons, John (Gil) Softcheck and Jeffrey (Theresa) Softcheck.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Scheuber (June 10, 2008); her parents; one brother, William Hardy; a niece, Patricia Hardy; and a brother-in-law, Tom Scheuber.
Visitation for Connie Scheuber will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Will County Humane Society (www.willcountyhumane.com) or Lightways Hospice (the former Joliet Area Community Hospice) (www.lightways.org) would be appreciated.
