Obituary of Amelia Castillo

Amelia Castillo, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2020 at Sunrise of Flossmoor.  Amelia was born May 11, 1932 in Joliet, IL the daughter of Francis (nee. Alanzo) and Gilberto Gonzalez.

She married Fabiol Castillo of Joliet and together they had two sons.  After moving to Park Forest, IL, she joined the workforce and was employed by Marshall Field & Company for almost 30 years.  She enjoyed working in her yard, exercising, walking, and spending time with her sons’ families and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark (Aimee) Castillo and Brian (Kathy) Castillo; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Michele Murray, Maria Natalie Lambert, Marie Briick, and Alice Arnold; and her brother, John Gonzalez.  Many nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive.

A Memorial Visitation for Amelia will be Friday, September 3, 2021, 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet.  Everyone will meet for a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 4, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 404 N. Hickory St., Joliet, IL.  Private family interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
