Obituary of Darlene M. Wunderlich
Darlene M. Wunderlich, age 85, of Joliet, IL passed away peacefully, July 25, 2021 at Lightways Hospice Home with her loving family by her side.
She was born March 5, 1936 in Joliet, the daughter of the late George and Evelyn (nee Hartman) Renwick. Darlene was a lifelong resident and a graduate of Joliet Township High School, Class of 1954. She attended Joliet Junior College for two years and Northwestern School of Medical Technology.
Darlene was formerly employed by the University of Illinois Hospital and John Elliot Blood Bank in Miami, FL. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Will County Medical Society.
A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be missed very much by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving is her loving husband of 64 years, Dr. Warren A. Wunderlich of Joliet, IL; her two sons, Gregory (Cheryl) Wunderlich of Portage, MI and Dr. Andrew (Melissa) Wunderlich of Naperville, IL; her six grandchildren, Cole, Grant, Grace, Kent, Elise, and Claire Wunderlich; her sister, Judith (late Claude) Smith of St. Petersburg, FL; and her niece, Joan (Tom) Hubbell of Seminole, FL.
The Wunderlich family would like to extend a sincere thank you to her faithful and loving caregiver, Maria Podsiadlo, and the staff of Lightways Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation for Darlene M. Wunderlich will be Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to the Cathedral of St. Ramond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Ave., Joliet, IL where a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park II, Joliet, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Lightways Hospice (the former Joliet Area Community Hospice) (www.lightways.org) would be appreciated.
