Obituary of Ann M. Janssen

Ann (Anna Mae Zentarski) Janssen, age 87, a long time resident of Shorewood, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, July 26, 2021 at home of natural causes.

Born June 18, 1934 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Anthony and Mary Ann “Mayme” (Roder) Zentarski.  She married the love of her life, Neil F. Janssen, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage until his passing March 7, 2013.   Her parents; her sister, Maureen (Richard) Roderick; and two brothers, Walter Zentarski and Arthur (Barbara) Zentarski also preceded her in death.

Ann was an active member of the Shorewood community and her church throughout her married life, and especially enjoyed being a member of the Ladies of the Elks and the Will County Emergency Management Agency where she was a volunteer from 1988-2016.

She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who was always there for her family and put their needs before her own.

Surviving are her three sons, John Janssen, Sr. of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Douglas Janssen of Channahon, and Phillip (Dawn) Janssen of Dingsman Ferry, PA; two daughters, Michelle (Mike Kirkland) Janssen of Pittsburg, MO and Brenda (the late Jim) Lutz of Joliet; 13 grandchildren, Dawn (Phil) Jurek, John R. (Jessica) Janssen, Jr., Shaun (fiancé Stephine Marshall) Denzinger, Kurt Kuehni, Jr., Cara and Adam Denzinger, Christopher (Erin) Lutz, Kimberly (Mark) Malone, Magen Lutz, David Janssen, Melissa Lloyd, Kristine Janssen and Ashley (Vinnie Ferraro) Lloyd; 13 great-grandchildren, Phillip III and Amber Jurek, Nathaniel Janssen, Hunter Denzinger, Ava and Landen Lutz, Marissa, Marla and McKenna Malone, Jayna Ferrito, Madelyn DeLoach, and Ellie and Audrey Ann Ferraro; her brother, Thomas Zentarski of Joliet; a brother-in-law, Stanley (JoAnn) Janssen of Hartington, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Anna Janssen will be held Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet.  Funeral Services will be Monday, August 2, 2021 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
