Obituary of Raymond O. Ziegler
Age 85 of Joliet, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at his home. He was born in Mt. Vernon, IL, the son of the late William and Irma Ziegler, and residing in Joliet since 1960. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Ray retired from Ford Motor Company in 1987 following over 30 years of service. Ray and his late wife Deloris were active in the U.A.W. Local #588 Retiree’s Chapter. He especially enjoyed camping and loved attending the Covered Bridge Festival in Covington, IN. He will be remembered as a beloved husband, devoted father, and a loving and caring grandfather, great grandfather, and brother.
He is survived by his daughter, Diana (Paul Jr.) Klover of Braidwood; grandchildren, Lenny McCubbin, Bridget (Michael) Margenthaler, and Brandi (Phil Schumacher) McCubbin; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Blair, Noah Blair, Dylan Swartz, Nolan Swartz, Austin, Mya and Cade McCubbin, Zade and Izabella Kluck, Emberly Schumacher; his sister, Carolyn Ozee; sister-in-law, Darlene Ziegler; dear friend, Jim Winfrey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife, Deloris (Smith) Ziegler (2014); grandson, Christopher McCubbin (2008); and brother, Charles Ziegler.
Visitation for Raymond Ziegler will be Monday, August 2, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
