Obituary of Noreen Ann Cervantes

Noreen Ann Cervantes, (nee Palmer), age 69, of Crest Hill, IL was called home Friday morning August 6, 2021. 

Noreen was born November 13, 1951, in Elgin, IL to parents Norman and Betty.  She attended Elgin High School and graduated from Joliet West High School in 1970.

Noreen was fortunate enough to have met the love of her life when she was just 14 years old.  She and Stephen married in the summer of 1972.  They spent the next 28 years building a life together, welcoming their two daughters.  Noreen lost Steve to cancer in 2000.  She spent the next 21 years talking about the day she would see her Steve again.  We know that she is now happier than she has been in far too long.

Noreen was an excellent seamstress and was known for her beautiful afghans.  Noreen will be remembered for her loud and infectious laugh, her dimpled smile, her kind and generous heart, and her ability to easily befriend anyone she spoke to.  If you gave her but a moment she would tell you about her “beautiful daughters” and “exceptional granddaughters”.  There was nothing she was more proud of than her girls.

Preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Cervantes; father, Norman Palmer, and beloved mother-in-law, Jessie Cervantes.

Surviving are her daughters, Denise (Marie) Cervantes and Stephanie (Matthew) Entile; granddaughters, Vivian and Elena; mother, Betty Harvel; brother, Roger (Lynda) Palmer; sister, Sandra Greer as well as her sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Noreen will be Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., (at Essington Rd.),  Joliet.  Visitation from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
