Susan E. Massett

Age 69, of Morris, IL, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021. She was born May 28, 1952, in Joliet, IL the daughter of the late Donald J. and Lola Mahoney.

Susan grew up in Joliet. She attended Joliet Central High School and graduated from Joliet West High School. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed yard work, bird watching, and raising chickens. She loved spending time at the South Wilmington Fireman’s Club and Morris Rod & Gun Club, where she would fish and camp.

Susan was the life of the party. Some of her most fun memories were going to the motorcycle races and listening to the blues with her husband, siblings, in-laws, and best friends. Her sense of humor drew people to her, especially children. She was a school bus driver for over 25 years in the Livingston and Grundy county area. She kept in contact with many of the “children” over the years and has been invited to share in special events in their lives.

She is survived by her loving children, Monica Johnson, Mickie Mueller, Ralph Massett, Mallory (Matt Rycewicz) Pruitt; her adoring grandchildren, Sage and Sorrel Johnson, Joseph and Amber Mueller, Mya and Myles Martin, Maxwell Massett, Layla Pruitt, and Ella Rycewicz; dear sisters, Donna Harty and Mary (Mike) Lenci; brother, Howard (Vicki) Mahoney; sisters-in-law, Dalia Mahoney-Tapella, Debbie Mahoney, and Nancy Mahoney. Many nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive.

She is preceded in death by; husband, Ralph Massett; her parents; and her brothers, Dave, Tim, and Frank Mahoney.

As it was Susan’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a memorial celebration at a later date.
