Gramera, Susanne
Age 84, of Joliet, passed away peacefully at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center on Monday, April 11, 2011. She was born in Joliet on October 31,1926 to Stefan and Suzanna Senko. Susanne married John Gramera on June 11, 1949 at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church. Member of Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church. Formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Moore Stove Works.
Many people enjoyed parties catered by Sue and John. Sue was very active in her church, where she made potica for the holidays, and taught Religious Education. She was a member of the Greek Catholic Union and past District 9 President, Secretary for Lodge 632 and a member of the Ladies of Columbus 382. She enjoyed bowling, baking, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Mary Ellen) Gramera of Bourbonnais; daughter, Mary (late James 2002) Altiery; three grandchildren, Nick and Susie Altiery, and Alexis Gramera; one brother, Steven (Lucille) Senko; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by her husband, John (1987); her parents; brother, John S. (Dorothy) Senko; sisters, Ann (Anthony) Kowalczyk, and Mary (Louis) Stefanski; and son-in-law, James Altiery.
Susanne Gramera will Lie in State on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church, 14610 South Will Cook Rd., Homer Glen, IL from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Thomas Loya officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home, Sunday 2-8 p.m. with Parastas Services at 7:00 p.m.
