Obituary of Jewell M. Chance
Age 81, of Joliet, IL passed away peacefully, Friday morning, August 13, 2021 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center Joliet.
She was born October 23, 1939 to the late Shirley (nee Parker) and Braxton Parton in Paulton, IL where she was raised and educated and was a graduate of nearby Crab Orchard High School.
She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Ernest B. Chance, Jr. who preceded her in death on August 15, 2001.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jewell is also preceded in death by her brother, Terry Parton; sister, Patty (late John) Galik; Glenn Parker and Margie who were like siblings to Jewell.
Surviving are her brothers, Joe (Katherine) Parton, Gene (Anna Mae) Parton; sister-in-law, Roberta Parton; Barb Jimenez who was like a sister to Jewell and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Jewell cherished her extended family and enjoyed being with them over the years. She also loved to golf when she was younger.
Visitation for Jewell will be Monday, August 16, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., (at Essington Rd.), Joliet. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home Tuesday morning, August 17, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
