Obituary of Mary L. Etheridge

Mary L. Etheridge, age 84, late of Shorewood, and formerly of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Amita Health Holy Family Medical Center Des Plaines, with her loving family by her side.

Born November 27, 1936 in Naperville, IL, she was the daughter of Laurel and Elsie (Ellsworth) Miller.  She was a graduate of Joliet Junior College and held an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts.   

Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and her gardening talents.  She was a faithful member of Christ First Baptist Church of Minooka, and she now rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Surviving are her loving children, Vickie (Jim) Bonior of Anderson, SC, Kathy (Brett) Jones of McMinnville, OR,  Bruce (Erin) Etheridge of Naperville, IL, and Sandy (Don) Kelly of Joliet, IL; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Dessie Lambert and Debra Brandt; one brother, Emery Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Charles R. Etheridge, Jr. (December 29, 2001); one daughter, Denise Anderson; a son-in-law, Paul Schofield, one grandson, Paul Charles Schofield; one granddaughter, Karen Karnes; and one brother, Kenneth Miller.

Visitation for Mary Etheridge will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 11:30 a.m., until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet.  Rev. Andrew O’Neal will officiate.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Christ First Baptist Church, 4295 Van Dyke Road, Minooka, IL 60447 would be appreciated.
