Louis G. Costello
Louis G. Costello, passed away peacefully at the age of 82, on Saturday, August 14, 2021, in Chandler, Arizona, where he was currently residing.
Louis was born on January 20, 1939, in Joliet, where he lived the majority of his life. He graduated from Joliet Township Central High School in 1956 and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Carol Tushek on October 20, 1959, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. Louis worked for Weber Dairy and Illinois Wine and Spirits then managed the Rivals Bowling Lanes in Joliet. He also owned and operated Broadway Mini Golf and Sky Slide, and a Bressler’s ice cream store. Louis worked for Harrah’s Casinos, where he started in Joliet and moved to Arizona to work at the Ak-Chin Casino in Maricopa until retirement in 2010.
Louis loved baseball and was an avid Cub fan. He coached youth baseball teams at St. Joseph Park, where he managed the 1973 Bronco All-Star team. He was a member of Rivals Club. Louis loved spending time with his family, watching grandchildren play sports, playing golf, and watching Cubs games and Indy Car races. He was known for his humor and easygoing personality and will be greatly missed.
Louis is survived by his wife, Carol (nee Tushek); his children, Alan (Jane) Costello of Joliet, IL and Lisa (Raymond) Miesch of Mt. Pleasant, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer Miesch of Walled Lake, MI, Dr. Matthew (Dr. Cristina) Miesch of Hoover, AL, and Rebecca (Alexander) Hammerle of Tega Cay, SC; great-grandchildren Athena, Harper, Leighton, Reese, Madelyn, and 3 babies on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Geno and Gena (nee Vitali) Costello; and his in-laws, Frank and Isabel (nee Stubler) Tushek.
Visitation for Louis G. Costello will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 9:30 a.m. until time of prayers at 10:45 a.m. continuing to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
Inurnment will be held privately by the family at St. Joseph Cemetery.
