Obituary of Lorraine A. Davidson

Lorraine A. Davidson, (nee Furto), age 72, of Minooka, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at home.

She was born in Joliet, the daughter of Thomas and Helen (Hartung) Furto, residing in Minooka for the past 52 years.  She graduated from Providence Catholic High School with the Class of 1966.

She was an active member of the Will County Farm Bureau, where she chaired the Women’s Committee for 30 years.  She led the Minooka Federated Women’s Club Blood Drive and co-chaired the Summer Fest Kiddie Parade for 30 years.  She also chaired the Women’s Club Garden Walk, where her own yard was featured one summer.  Lorraine was also a member and past president of St. Mary’s C.C.W. and a member of the Community Foundation of Grundy County serving as vice-president for one year.

Lorraine did all the bookkeeping for the family grocery store on Mondamin and Ridge in Minooka, as well as managing the family farm.

Lorraine loved gardening, reading, and baking, and enjoyed traveling, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving is her loving husband of 52 years, Gerald Davidson of Minooka; her two daughters, Marcia Davidson of Tampa, FL, and Kathleen (Brian) Kaplan of Minooka; three grandchildren, Avery, Maisy, and Liam Kaplan; her mother, Helen Furto of Crest Hill; two sisters, Louise Furto and Diane Furto, both of Crest Hill; three brothers, James (Peg) Furto of Minooka, Ronald Furto of Crest Hill, and Dennis Furto of Minooka; brothers-in-law, Jim Davidson of Mishawaka, IN and Donald (Sig) Davidson of Minooka; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Furto, and one brother, Albert Furto.

Visitation for Lorraine A. Davidson will be Sunday, August 22, 2021, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Funeral services will be held Monday, August 23, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church Parish Hall, Minooka, 300 St. Mary Street, Minooka, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Seward Mound Cemetery.

The family respectfully requests all attendees wear face masks at both the funeral home and the church.
