Obituary of Wilfredo Goyco
Wilfredo Goyco, age 90, of Lockport, and a former resident of the East Ukrainian Village neighborhood of Chicago, passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the home of his daughter, with his loving family by his side.
Born November 12, 1930 in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Abad and Modesta (Raices) Goyco. He retired from Peerless of America after many years of service as a tube tester in their television manufacturing division.
Wilfredo was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose patience, humbleness, and sense of humor will forever be an example to his family. He was a man of God with a deep and enduring faith as witnessed by the loving care he provided his wife’s father for many years during his retirement until his passing at age 101. He will also be remembered for the poetry he wrote, and the enjoyment he received from collecting things, especially coins, stamps and license plates.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years, Ramona Perez Goyco; his loving children, Wilfredo (Zenaida) Goyco, Jr., Gilberto (Pilar) Goyco, Maria (Ramon) Goyco-Alicea, Roberto (Guadalupe) Goyco, and Josefina (Jerry) Goyco-Mercado; 19 adoring grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lydia Goyco, Maria Millet, Haydee Goyco, and Esther Rosa; one brother, Jesus Goyco; and many nieces and nephews.
Wilfredo was preceded in death by one son, Rene Goyco; his parents Abad and Modesta Goyco two sisters, Aramita Goyco and Mercedes Goyco; and one brother, Hector Manuel Goyco.
Visitation for Wilfredo Goyco will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park II.
The family kindly requests masks be worn by all those attending the visitation and funeral.
