Obituary of Kay Cavallero

Age 80, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday evening August 26, 2021. She was born May 17, 1941 to the late Velma (nee Sanders) and Wilfred Burns in Joliet, IL where she resided all her life. Kay was a graduate of St. Francis Academy with the class of 1959.

She is the loving mother of Jeff Spesia, Mike Spesia, David (Lisa) Spesia, Jamie (Laura) Cavallero and Jennifer Cavallero; beloved grandmother of Fallon Costenaro, Nikki Spesia, Zach Spesia, Abbey Spesia, Madison Kamp and Jack Ball; proud great grandmother of Lucy, Nellie, Hennie and Jaiden; dearest sister of Mary Burns, Tim (Judy) Burns, Judy (Jack) Fordonski, Michelle Burns, Pat (Daryl) Walker, Tom (Cindy) Burns and Molly (Mark) Snodgrass. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jerry Burns; two sisters, Beverly Brophy and Donna Johnson as well as her stepmother, Dorothy Burns.

Kay, a retired real estate agent from Coldwell Banker, was formerly employed for many years in customer service and was also a dedicated volunteer at the Guardian Angel Home in Joliet. She will be remembered fondly as a selfless loving soul whose concern for others always took precedence.

Visitation for Kay will be Tuesday morning August 31, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until a prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kay's name can be made to the Will County Humane Society.
