Obituary of Donald A. Davis, Jr.
Donald A. Davis, Jr.
Age 49, of Plainfield, IL passed away unexpectedly on August 27, 2021 in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born October 23, 1971 in Oak Lawn, IL, to Ellen (nee Hayes) and the late Donald A. Davis.
Don is survived by his first priority and love, Tammy (nee Pool) Davis; his children, Amber(26), Zachary(19), Melanie(16), Calista(8), and Lilian(7) Davis; his mother, Ellen Davis; sister, Kathryn (Jamie) Mech; mother-in-law, Maria Pool; father-in-law, Richard (Linda) Pool; brothers and sisters-in-law, Deborah (Terry) Countryman, Ronald (Marsha) Frydrychowski, Pamela (Brad) Stroube, Richard (Nicole) Pool, and William (Stacey) Pool. Many nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald A. Davis.
Don grew up in Tinley Park. He was a career trucker and proud Teamster. He achieved his career goal to work for UPS, where he has worked for the past 10 years. Being a sleeper driver with UPS gave him the best gift: traveling the country during the week and enjoying extended weekends with his family and a big bowl of ice cream. He especially loved the mountains of Montana. He lived for his family and put his heart and soul into protecting and providing for them.
Don was a proud American and avid knife collector. He was kind, funny, and generous. He recounted stories with a passion and made friends everywhere he went. He was always the first to help and was a lifeline to many. He was part of the Bill W. fellowship and left footprints and provided support wherever he could. There was never a phone call that he didn’t answer or wouldn’t return. His memory and love will be kept alive by many.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for a future trust.
