Obituary of Paula Rae Silverman

Paula R. Silverman, (nee Wicburg), age 75, of Joliet, died peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Lightways Hospice with her loving family by her side.

Born on December 11, 1945 in Joliet, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Pauline (Pavletich) Wicburg.  She married the love of her life, Ronald J. “Ron” Silverman, and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage until his passing June 17, 2008. One sister, Barbara Gregurich, and two brothers, Don and Jim Wicburg also preceded her in death.

Paula, born and raised in the Joliet area, was a local beautician and avid crocheter and crafter. She was always making a gift for someone. She was a lifelong member of the South Wilmington Sportsman’s Club.  Paula loved all of her children and grandchildren, and will be missed by all. 

Paula is survived by her loving children, Linda (Tim) Brush, Patrick (LeighAnn) Silverman and Jill (Paul) Mihelich; 13 cherished grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; dear sisters-in-law, Toni (the late Jim) Wicburg, Carol (the late Don) Wicburg, Virginia (the late Chuck) Henry; and cherished brother-in-law, Matthew (the late Barbara) Gregurich.

Visitation for Paula Silverman will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Funeral services will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be in St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.

Face masks will be required at both the funeral home and at church.
