Obituary of Anthony V. Frangella

Anthony V. Frangella, age 90, of Shorewood, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center Joliet.

Born November 11, 1930 in Joliet, he was the son of Domenico and Loretta (Forte) Frangella, and was a graduate of Joliet Township High School.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and worked as a painter before becoming Business Agent for Painters Union Local #33, a post he held from 1974 to 1995.

Anthony was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who put his family before anything else.  He was a wonderful man with a big heart.  In his more active years he loved to fish, especially ice fishing, and spent many happy times fishing with friends and enjoying fishing trips.  In his later years, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave him his greatest joy.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Rosemary E. (Cady) Frangella; two sons, John (Rosemary) Frangella of Aurora, and James Frangella of Joliet; two granddaughters, Jessica (David) Jones and Shandi (Jorge Galvan) Frangella; five great-grandchildren, Christian, Gianni, Milania, Andrade and Abigail; a sister-in-law, Shirley Frangella; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Domenico and Loretta; one brother, Russell Frangella; and an infant brother, Peter.

Visitation for Anthony Frangella will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, where additional visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.   Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
