Peter James Bryand

Peter James Bryand, passed away at the age of 57, on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center.  Peter was born on July 25, 1964, to the union of Jose Presciliano and Anne E. (nee Kowalcyk) Bryand.  Born and raised in Chicago, Peter was a graduate of Schurz High School.  He worked in maintenance for over 30 years, however, his true gift and passion were seen while he worked as a Professional Florist in the Chicago downtown area for over 20 years. His talent in decorating could also be seen throughout all the buildings in Chicago during the holiday season.  

Peter was a jokester who had a heart of gold.  He was fun-loving and was always supportive of his family, who he loved more than anything.  He was proud of the man that he became and was.  In his free time, he enjoyed collecting antiques and was a huge Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and Cubs fan.  Peter will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Peter is survived by his mother, Anne E. (nee Kowalcyk) Cardona; his daughter, Katrina Camacho; his siblings, Victor (Blanca) Bryand, Barbara (the late Jose M. Sr.) Reyes, Samantha (Cheryl) Bryand, Jose (the late Jose Novoa) Bryand, III, Juan Cardona, Jr., Jose L. Cardona, and Julia (Walter) White; his nieces, and nephews, Jose M. Reyes, Jr., Christine E. Orona, Cecylia M. Rivera, Alfonso Reyes, Daniel Reyes, Pedro Orona, Elizabeth Genchi, Elliot V. Bryand, Mathew O'Donnell, Mary Neubauer, Jr. White, Jessie Cardona, Justin Cardona, and Jeremy Cardona; and his life partner, Landro Pavon.  Several other nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded by his father, Jose Presciliano Bryand.

Visitation for Peter James Bryand will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m.  In accordance with the State of Illinois guidelines, masks will be required. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
