Obituary of Mary E. Krippel

Mary E. Krippel, age 86 of Joliet, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet. She was born on December 17, 1934 in Joliet to the late August E. and Alice (Piersing) Vehrs. Mary was a graduate of St. Francis Academy, St. Joseph School of Nursing and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from St. Xavier College. She was formerly employed as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, Grundy County Health Department and retired from the Will County Health Department.

Mary was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus Parish, serving as a wedding coordinator and took much pride in volunteering at the Joliet Area Historical Museum. Mary was also a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Naples FL where she enjoyed many winters in the Florida sunshine.

She is survived by her children, Mark Krippel (Jude Weber), Ray (Lynette) Krippel, Carol (Carl) Bosi, Kevin (Sue) Krippel, Doug (Laurie) Krippel, Marilyn (Scott) Brown; 14 grandchildren, Jill Krippel, Jeff Krippel, Kelly (Andrew) Worrall, Dr. Jaynee (Chris) Pendergast, Kristie (Eddie) Starzyk III, Kassy (Jon) Mangan, Aaron Krippel, Beza Krippel, Daniel Krippel, Kari Anne (Kyle) Nie, Mitchell Krippel, Emily Brown, Melissa Brown and Adam Brown; 8 great-grandchildren, Jacob and Olivia Worrall, Addison and Eddie Starzyk IV, Brooklyn and Madelyn Nie, Elizabeth and Lucy Pendergast; brother, Edward (Angela) Vehrs; sister, Susan (Robert C.) Gagnon; and sister-in-law of; Joyce (late Ray) Krippel, Yvonne (late Tony) Pavlich, Sr. Lou Krippel OSF, Maree (late Bob) Kestel, Jerry Krippel, Dave (Linda) Krippel, Barb (late Rich Krippel Sr.) (Karl) Astrom and Charles (late Ann) Hamilton; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Clarence W. Krippel (2001); her parents August & Alice Vehrs; granddaughter, Cory Krippel; and grandson Jeremy Bosi., father-in-law and mother-in-law Raymond and Gertrude Krippel.

Visitation for Mary E. Krippel will be Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Avenue, Joliet, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. Face masks are required at the funeral home, church and cemetery.

The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Lightways Hospice and the Amita Cancer Care Center team for the compassionate care given to Mary and her family.
