Richard Anthony DeRosa

Richard Anthony DeRosa, passed away at the age of 69, on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at St. Joseph Medical Center.  Richard was born on August 23, 1952, the son of Louis and Georgiann (nee McLean) DeRosa.  Born and raised in Chicago, he was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. Richard was a driver with International Harvester, formerly employed at D’Arcy Motors in Joliet.  

Richard was a sports fan who loved to watch football.  He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed watching the Blackhawks.  He loved preparing meals for his family to enjoy, and he was talented in doing so. His family meant the world to him; he was extremely close to his grandchildren. 
                            

Richard is survived by his three daughters, Carla (David Hernandez) DeRosa, Christine (Andrew) Griswold, and Marie (James Anastos) DeRosa; his mother, Georgiann Lantz; six grandchildren, Christian (Emily) Griswold, Gina Guzman, Nicole Guzman, Andrew Griswold, Ryan Griswold, and Daniela Hernandez; and his siblings, Marge DeRosa Walker, Edward (Amanda) Evans, and Lisa Lantz.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded by his father, Louis DeRosa.

Visitation for Richard Anthony DeRosa will be held onSaturday, October 9, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 3:00p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m.  As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following the service.  In accordance with the State of Illinois guidelines, masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Cancer Society or Wounded Warriors Project would be appreciated.
