Obituary of Donald C. Hall
Donald C. Hall, age 77, of Shorewood since 2012, and a resident of Oswego for 30 years, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Lightways Hospice, with his loving family by his side.
Born March 29, 1944, in Morris, IL, he was the son of Chester and Helen (Hahn) Hall, and was a 1962 graduate of Morris High School. He continued his education at Illinois State University studying Mathematics, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree.
He began his working career as a math teacher at Dwight Junior High, and it is here he met his beloved wife of 48 years, Rebecca Williams, who taught at Dwight Grade School.
Don later worked for the State of Illinois with the Department of Transportation, before joining Caterpillar, Inc., retiring after 30 years of service.
Don loved following the stock market on television and going to the casinos whenever he could. He was also a huge Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed Johnny Cash music.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his happy and positive attitude, and his jokes he was always ready to share. He also served as a brave example to his family and friends during his 27-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Hall; two children, Carrie Elizabeth Hall of Oxford, OH, and Donald Scott (Alyssa) Hall of Lemont; one granddaughter, Abigail Hall; a sister, Beverly (Richard) White of Morris; and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Geraldine (Gene) White.
Visitation for Donald Hall will be held Friday, October 8, 2021, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Services will be held Friday, October 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home to Risen Lord Cemetery, Oswego, IL, where Graveside Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m.
