Obituary of Barbara Lynn Anderson

Barbara Lynn Anderson, of Minooka, passed away peacefully at the age of 78, on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Light Ways Hospice, surrounded by the love of her family.  Barbara was born November 29, 1942, the daughter of Robert Douglas and Lois Fitzer.  Born and raised in Joliet, she was a graduate of Plainfield High School and attended Joliet Junior College.  She was employed as a dispatcher with Hannic Freight, and formerly Western America.

 

Barbara enjoyed crafting.  She was talented in making cards for all occasions, knitting, painting, and needlepoint.   In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time out with friends playing pool in several leagues.   Barbara loved her family more than anything and will be missed by all who loved her.

 

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Leigh Anderson; daughter, Sharyl L. (Stephen) Mathews; son, Mark Alling; step-daughters, Michelle (Adam Reinertsen) Anderson and Erica (Michael Frazier) Anderson; six grandchildren,  Derek Alling, Brianne Alling, Holly Mathews, Marci Mathews, Cameron Frazier, and Carter Frazier; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Sharyl Deckard, John “Jack” (Joanie Cartwright) Douglas, Richard (Patrick Mouton) Hyder, and William (Diana) Douglas; uncle, Robert (Jean) Fitzer; and her aunt, Anna Marie Lohmar.  Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

 

She is preceded by her adopted mother, Doris Douglas; her biological parents; and a brother in infancy, Steven Douglas.

 

Funeral Services for Barbara Lynn Anderson will be held privately by the family.  As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded.
