Obituary of Martin A. Velemir

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Martin A. Velemir, age 34, of Joliet, passed away suddenly on October 24, 2021, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Martin was born July 2, 1987, in Joliet, IL, the son of R. Andrew (Andy) Velemir and Peggy (Lambert) Velemir. He graduated from JCA class of 2006 and USF class of 2012. He was employed and greatly enjoyed working as a package handler for FedEx in Romeoville. Marty was an avid participant in Anime and was very active in his Anime interests and conventions. He enjoyed meeting all kinds of artistic and creative people who shared his passion. He also enjoyed doing voiceover work for different occasions. Marty took part in and was very proud of his Karate skills and had a great love of animals. He was known for his loving heart, his tender soul, and his innocent humor.

 He is survived by his mother, Peggy Lambert (Patrick Monshau) Velemir; his father, R. Andrew “Andy” (Mary Kay) Velemir; his sister, Jessica Velemir (Marcos) Ybarra; and his most beloved nephew, Giovanni G. Ybarra. He also leaves behind Pat’s children Amy (Chuck) Mascolino, Dan (Lorissa) Monshau, and Ariel (Drew) Olijar, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.   Marty will be truly missed by his constant and best friend, Joe Chierigatti.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Helen and Daniel Lambert; and Joyce and Raymond Zierman.

As it was Marty’s request, cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd.
