Obituary of Edward J. Walsh

Edward J. Walsh, age 88, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Lightways Hospice.

Born June 1, 1933 in Chicago, he was the son of the late Denis P. and Theresa (Walsh) Walsh, Sr., both Irish immigrants.  Theresa was born in County Sligo and Denis in County Antrim.  They came to the United States where they met, married, and raised their five children.

Edward graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, and received his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Loyola University, where he also attended graduate school in Industrial Relations.

Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.  He spent most of his two years at Fort Richardson in Alaska.  He held the rank of Corporal at the time of his honorable discharge.

He worked as Senior Representative for the Bureau of National Affairs, Inc., Washington, DC, and managed their Chicago office for over 33 years.

He married his beloved wife, the former Nadine Wright, on May 25, 1979 in Guntersville, Alabama, and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Nadine Walsh; two devoted step-daughters, Sherry (Phillip) Farmer and Debra (the late Ernest) Hill; grandchildren, Deanna Clouse, Phillip Farmer, Jr., Matthew (Megan) Farmer, and Sarah Farmer; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Rose Marie and Matthew, Jr.; two brothers, James F. Walsh and Denis P. Walsh, Jr.; one sister, Catherine Kilbourie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John P. Walsh

Visitation for Edward Walsh will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park where military honors will be accorded under the auspices of the United States Army.
