Obituary of Sharon L. Hischier- Barnard
Sharon L. Hischier-Barnard (nee McCarthy), age 80, of Braidwood, IL and formerly of Joliet passed away, Friday, October 29, 2021 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet.
She was born August 18, 1941 to the late Minnie (nee Sievert) and Paul McCarthy in Joliet where she was raised and educated, a graduate of Joliet Township High School.
Surviving are her husband of 32 years, Michael Barnard; her children, Christine (Adam) Phillips, Cynthia Hischier, Craig Hischier, Scott (Allison) Barnard, and James (Christine) Barnard; daughter-in-law, Laurie Hischier; grandchildren, Tiffany, Melissa, Aaron, Tiaira, Taylor, Cody, Tyler, Frank, Lily, and Mikey; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Tanna, Jolene, Justine, Brooklyn, Jaylah, Ryan, Mason, Natalee, Gabriel, Alayna, Meila, and Sydni; great-great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Neveah; brothers, Jack (Jeanie) McCarthy and Bill (Patti) McCarthy. Many nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive.
Sharon was employed at Folger Adams for several years and then worked at the dental office of David Rubis as a sterilization tech from where she retired. She volunteered for Will County Humane Society and Northern Illinois Food Bank.
Sharon enjoyed trips to the casino, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and a great glass of wine. She loved her family and especially the time she spent with her grandchildren. She will be missed by her cat, Elvis, and her dogs, Parker and Bailey.
A Memorial Gathering for Sharon will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2nd at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Masks are required at the funeral home.
As it was Sharon’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded.
