Obituary of Richard H. Renwick, DDS

Richard Henry “Dick” Renwick, DDS, age 78, of Joliet, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center Joliet with his family and friends at his side.

 

Born January 26, 1943 in Geneva, IL, he was the son of Henry and Gertrude (Bremer) Renwick.

 

Dick attended Wheaton High School, Bradley University, Dental School at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and received his master’s degree in Orthodontics from Washington University in St. Louis.  He married the love of his life, Sharon Marie Bradley, in Oak Park, Illinois on June 29, 1968, and proudly served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1970.

 

Dick was a longtime resident and employer in Joliet as an Orthodontist where he created smiles through his works and character, and was admired by his employees and patients as compassionate and kind.

 

Dick was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time with his family and friends at “the Farm” hunting and training his beloved dogs, Charlie and Millie. He also enjoyed travelling the world on trips with family and dear friends, and the mountains of Colorado. Dick knew the value of hard work but also enjoyed a good time with all those that surrounded him.

 

Dick was passionate about faith, family and friends, and love of country.

 

Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Sharon M. (Bradley) Renwick of Joliet; his devoted children, Pamela Strand of Yardley, PA and Bradley Renwick of Naperville; three adoring grandchildren, Jack, Gretchen and Nate Strand; a sister-in-law, Cathy Renwick; and nephew David and his wife Heather and their children Penelope and Oliver.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John Renwick and Thomas Renwick and his son-in-law Jeffrey Strand.

 

Visitation for Dr. Richard Renwick will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be private.
