Mike H. Derby, passed away at the age of 58, on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, surrounded by his family. Mike was born on November 27, 1962 the son of the late George and Rose (nee Murphy) Derby.  Born and raised in Chicago, he attended Steinmetz High School.  Mike retired from DHL as a Truck Driver after 28 dedicated years of service.  
 
Mike was an amazing husband, dad and papa whose family meant the world to him. He adored his wife and cherished the family that they built together. He loved his girls and was proud of each and every one of them. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching the Chicago Cubs, jamming to music and having a cold one. His girls will always remember him for using his favorite phrase when ordering another round of drinks: “Sprinkle the infield”. 
  
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Carrie (nee Bozan) Derby; three daughters, Jenna (Eric) Engstrom, Gina Derby, and Michelle (Derek) Cavoto; grandchildren, Lucas and Emma Engstrom, and Jesse Bell; one grandchild on the way; his brother, Roy (Eileen) Derby; mother-in-law, Rose Bozan; brothers-in-law, Tom Bozan and Michael (Liz) Bozan; and his sister-in-law, Joyce Derby.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
 
He is preceded by his parents and one brother, Ray Derby.
 
Visitation for Mike H. Derby will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m.  In accordance with the Illinois guidelines, masks will be required.  As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
