Obituary of Jacquelyn Gruben

Gruben, Jacquelyn Jean (nee Waldman) Age 87, late of St. Charles, and formerly of Joliet, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Provena Pine View Care Center. Born October 12, 1923 in Peru, Indiana to the late William Frederick and Audra Jane (nee Bartholomew) Waldman, she was a graduate of Joliet Grade School, Joliet Township High School Class of 1941, Joliet Junior College, and the University of Illinois. On August 10, 1946 she married Robert Peter Gruben at St. John Catholic Church, Joliet. She retired from Provena St. Joseph Medical Center after 17 years of service as a Medical Technologist. She was an active member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond, CCW and was the 1998 Woman of the Year, also serving her church as Pastoral Minister. She provided many years of service with the Visitation and Aid Society and Joliet Area Community Hospice, serving both organizations as past President. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Peter Gruben (1977); two daughters, Barbara (1953) and Jill Ann Gruben (1976); and her parents. Surviving are her cherished daughters, Jocelyn Lee (David) Booth of St. Charles and Pamela Marie (Roberto) Hernandez of Poolesville, MD; four grandchildren, Sarah Ann Booth (Bryan) Zimmermann, Jennifer Leah Booth, Roberto Hernandez III, and Martin Peter Hernandez; loving sister of Alita Lee (late Robert) Beach. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A Memorial Mass for Jacquelyn Jean Gruben will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Ave., Joliet. Private inurnment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials in her name to Provena Pine View Care Center, 611 Allen Lane, St. Charles, IL 60174 would be greatly appreciated.
