Obituary of Joan Audrey Chaplin
Joan A Chaplin Age 88, a former long-time Burbank, IL resident, passed away peacefully at Harbor Chase in Plainfield, IL. Joan was born in Baraboo, WI January 9, 1933. She and her husband, Joe raised their family in Burbank. She also resided in Green Valley, AZ and then Loveland, CO where she made many wonderful friendships.
She is survived by her son, Joseph H. (Robin) Chaplin, Jr; daughter, Patricia “Patti” M. Starr (Patrick Kelly); grandchildren, Kristina (John) Zientek, Kimberly (Robert) Harris; Kandice Starr (Juan Almeida); Kathryn (Ryan) Finn; Kevin (Katie) Starr; great-grandchildren Abigail, Aria and Mila; and many nieces and nephews including Nancy (Bernie) Lovati.
Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Chaplin, Sr.
Joan was employed by Clark Equipment Company and American Bank Note, both in Burbank and also in the fabric aisle at Walmart in Green Valley, AZ.
Joan was lovingly known as Mom, Mommy, Grandma, and most recently, her favorite title: “GG.” She lit up when she saw her great-granddaughters and she loved bragging about them to her friends at Harbor Chase. Known by many as the “cool lady with the purple hair,” she remained social through her last days doing her favorite things with the amazing staff and residents at Harbor Chase: crafting and winning Bingo. Mahjong, prayer groups and sewing were also some of her favorite pastimes. She was small but strong, and she really loved Jesus; a combination that helped her defeat cancer more than once. She was a spirited, spunky little lady who was always true to herself and left her mark whenever she went.
