Obituary of James R. Varman

James R. Varman, age 69, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Salem Village Nursing Home.

He is survived by his brother, Frank (Linda) Varman; nephew, Michael (Michelle) Varman; niece, Melissa (Brent) Offerman; great-nephews, Nicholas Varman and Ryan Offerman; and great-niece, Samantha Varman.  Numerous cousins also survive.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Carmella (nee DeFazio) Varman; grandparents, Harry and Natalia Varman and Carlo and Concetta DeFazio; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Joliet, and graduated from Joliet East High School with the Class of 1970.  He was employed at Chellino Cheese Company for over 30 years as a factory worker and delivery driver.

Jim enjoyed fishing, boating on the river, building model cars and going to the drag races.

Jim’s family would like to thank Lightways Hospice for the care he received.

A private graveside service for Jim will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Joliet.  Fred C. Dames Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
