Obituary of Rosemary Ann Lux
Rosemary A. Lux
Age 91, a retired educator and lifetime Joliet, IL resident, passed away peacefully Friday, November 26, 2021, at Lightways Hospice Home of Joliet.
Born January 28, 1930, to the late Rosemarie, nee Hyland (1993) and Walter B. Lux (1958), she attended the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus Grade School and graduated with the class of 1948 from St. Francis Academy (JCA). Rosemary received her bachelor's degree from the College of St. Francis in 1952 and shortly thereafter began a 38-year career as a teacher at A.O. Marshall Grade School.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister, Cathryn J. Lux (2005) cousin, John B. Lux (2017), and her faithful canine companion, Molly Ann.
Survived by her wonderful neighbors and friends, Jorge and Angelica Vargas and children Alberto, Jorge and Erik; Jim and Julie Ardaugh, Mark and Lydia Downey, as well as several cousins.
Ms. Lux was a lifetime parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Raymond where she was a co-recipient in 2010 of the St. Raymond Nonnatus Society Award and for many years, was President of the Cathedral Senior Club. She often volunteered for various causes, including the Shepherd's Table at the Daybreak Shelter and for over 35 years at the Rialto Square Theatre.
Rosemary enjoyed traveling with her family by taking a number of trips to Europe, many cruises, and memorable summers at her vacation property in Wisconsin Dells.
Visitation for Ms. Lux will be Sunday, December 5, 2021, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Funeral services will begin Monday, December 6, 2021, 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Cathedral of St. Raymond or the Will County Humane Society would be appreciated.
