Obituary of Ronald L Plonis
Ronald L. Plonis
Age 81, of Plainfield, IL and formerly Burbank, IL passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Friday, November 26, 2021.
Ron was born July 24, 1940 in Chicago to the late Helen (nee Denis) and Tony Plonis.
He is the beloved husband of 58 years to Patricia “Pat” Plonis; loving father of Shelley (Don) Plate, Sherryl (Al) Lindish and Ronnie (Mary) Plonis; devoted grandfather of Alexa (Will), Greyson (Kelly), Allyson, Jac; Evan, Brenna and Shaye; proud great-grandfather of Griffin, Max and Zeppelin; dear brother of Ed (Barbara) Plonis; fond brother-in-law of Arlene (Fred) Verre and LaVerne (Jim) Flanagan. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
“Bub,” as he was known by his loved ones, retired from Barclay Marine after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of BPOE Joliet Lodge #296 where he initiated and participated annually in a holiday food drive to benefit the less fortunate.
He truly enjoyed the warm sun of Pompano Beach, FL, cruising the Seas with Pat and her sisters and brothers-in-law. However, nothing made him happier than supporting and rooting for his grandchildren at their events over the years. He felt truly blessed to watch them grow and become the young adults they are.
Visitation for Ron will be Monday, November 29, 2021, from 2-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet. Funeral services will begin Tuesday morning, November 30, 2021, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Plainfield where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. As it was Ron’s wish, cremation rites will be accorded after Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, www.michaeljfox.org/donation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's Disease.
