Obituary of Adelaide Holm

S. Adelaide Holm, (nee Mansfield), age 91, of Joliet, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 at Ascension Villa Franciscan. 

Adelaide was born May 26, 1930 in Gregory, N.C., one of three children born to Cornelius and Linda (Balsom) Mansfield, which included her brothers Lawrence and Richard Mansfield.  She married Delbert L. Holm and they were the parents of a daughter, Catherine Griffin, grandparents to Steven and Robert, and great-grandparents to Kameron.  Delbert preceded her in death in 2001. 

A lifelong Joliet area resident, Adelaide was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Cantigny Post #367, a life member of the VFW National Home, and a member of the Will County Historical Society and Hope Lutheran Church.  She was also a former member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. 

Adelaide enjoyed being a member of the quilting group at St. Peter’s, and was very proud of the quality of the quilts they made.  She was also a talented baker, and her coffee cakes are still remembered fondly by friends and her former Sunday school students. 

Funeral services for Adelaide Holm will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 305 E. Black Road, Shorewood, IL where she will Lie-in-State from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.  Interment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be private.   

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Morning Star Mission or Hope Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
