Obituary of Jacqueline W. Buckley
Jacqueline (Jackie) Buckley, 82, died peacefully on November 30, 2021, surrounded by family, after a 9 year battle with Alzheimer's.
Jackie was the daughter of the late Kathryn (Hoffman) and Charles Oscar Whitacre. She was born on May 8, 1939, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was a graduate of Marymount College in Salina, Kansas, and completed a dietetic internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Jackie worked as a hospital dietician at several hospitals in Minnesota, Kansas, and Chicago. She ended her career as the coordinator of the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program in Grundy County.
Jackie Buckley is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul Buckley. They were happily married on November 27, 1970, at Ascension Church in Oak Park, IL, and were blessed with four children and six grandchildren.
Besides spending time with her family, Jackie Buckley was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish. She initiated several volunteer programs with the church, including the IC community prayer chain, and served as a founding member of the PADS board providing emergency shelter for those in need. Quilting was a passionate hobby and she enjoyed collaborating with friends in the local quilting club.
Her beautiful life will be cherished by her husband; children, Anne (Mark) Barry of Homewood, David Buckley of Morris, Mark (Kim) Buckley of Wilmette, and Cathleen (Garrett Olson) Buckley of River Forest; grandchildren, Jack and Grace Barry, Josh and Amelia Buckley, Jonathan, and Julia Olson; her sister, Kay (John) Heidel of Snellvile, GA; and a number of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jackie was preceded in death by her brother Larry Whitacre.
Funeral services for Jacqueline Buckley will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 E. Jackson Street in Morris. To live-stream the funeral service, please go to the church’s website http://icmorris.org/
Visitation will be held in the church narthex Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until Mass begins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morris.
